My husband spent $5000 on my Neil Lane wedding set from Kay Jewelers and also purchased the warranty. Within four months, a diamond fell out.

Three months later, another diamond fell out. Each time, I have to send my ring away for two weeks at a time. I just hit the 19 month mark of owning my ring, and another diamond came out, and three are loose. I explained to Kay Jewelers that the ring was defective...I wore my other set for over 10 years without a problem, and my mother and grandmother have work theirs over 50 years without a problem.

Kay Jewelers is unwilling to acknowledge that the ring is defected, and is only offering to send it off AGAIN, for the third time to replace another diamond and tighten the ones that are loose.

Such a scam...I thought Neil Lane made quality jewelry, but it's been nothing but junk and I'm disappointed and frustrated. Do not buy Neil Lane, and certainly do not purchase from Kay Jewelers!

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

God I would hate to be married to you. Not every thing is perfect the first time.

Neil Lane is not specifically related to Kay Jewelers. Neil Lane uses small stones and creates the very high setted, halo effect, and also "vintage appeal" therefore, it makes it incredibly easy to knock out the diamonds due to the settings used for the look. All Kay Jewelers can do is use the ESP insurance and the diamond bond that they have. The shop does a very nice job and tries their hardest to make your piece look it's absolute best, but unfortunately, they cannot completely remake another ring to make it more stable for you.

one big thing is that neil lane and many other designers are usig very small. .005 ct stones in the halo and in various parts of the design.

this can be seen in many brands (tacori, vera *** neil lane, etc etc) these diamonds have micro prongs, gold is a SOFT metal so normal wear and tear WILL knock these small diamonds out. Period. Vinatge items and older stsyes used larger stones.

Now having dealt with Kay myself i'm sure they are replacing the diamond(s) for you at no charge which is all they really can do. Hope this helps in some way
