Do not do any kind of business with Kay. I think their jewelers are stealing
diamonds and replacing them with other
diamonds of lesser quality. They swapped out my 1ct diamond that my mother gave me with someother crappy diamond. They tried to make it right but I now have a diamond that really isn't the one that I picked out. It's an ok diamond but not of the same quality as the one my mother gave me or the one that I would have been somewhat happy with. The store will tell you this can't happen becuase the shops only carry certain sizes of
diamonds, but they can't insure that the individual employee isn't running some kind of scam. Please buy somewhere else, let's put these theifs out of business. BTW: Kay is owned by
Sterling which owns Jareds, and Weisfields too. Stay away!!

I bought my daughter a ring from Kay Jewelers with a very, very nice diamond for Christmas. Both my husband and I shopped around and looked at many diamonds from different stores-we even looked at this diamond under the microscope several times prior to purchase. Returned the ring to Kay for sizing after Christmas. The ring that came back definitely did not have the same diamond. You could see the difference with your naked eye. Looked at the new diamond under a microscope. The new diamond was smaller and milky colored with numberouts inclusions. I am dumbstruck. I can't believe this. The difference between the two diamonds is so incredibly obviou. Unbelievable. I have been robbed.

To "Jill". You would think that way, because you admitted to working at a jewelry store. I don't expect you to take responsibility for missing diamonds or lack of customer service.

ive worked in jewelery store before and i can tell you how many customers think we switch stones because when ur stone is actually sent out for work..they clean it..so you can actually see the stone past all ur filth. then wow i realize its crappy..but since customers are usually jerks they blame the store or the sales person..its not the store its the customer..spending 3000 dollars on something like a 1ct..means u got a crap stone..ur eye is just not trained to see it...u gotta spend money to get something good

It does not matter who does the work for Kay. Consumers bring their business to Kay; therefore it's Kay's responsibility to deliver the product. Kay sent a product, that's Kay's responsibility, to another company. Kay remains responsible for that item. It's a "cop out" for Kay to lay blame on another provider.

I sent my 3 carat diamond ring off because two of the baguettes were cracked. When the ring came back, the diamonds that were swapped out were so small that it initially appeared that an entire diamond was missing. Kays does sloppy if not illegal work!

Nanette, Kay's sends their jewelry to another location that is still owned by them, they don't send the product to outside companies. As for having your diamond switched, I highly doubt it, because they are plotted before they are sent and they take pictures for this purpose. Let's get serious. Also, they run background checks on all of their employees and have strict policies. I guess you didn't hear any of that though because you were most likely too busy getting your fit out.

well Kays just lost my engagement ring too--so I think it is the company that is at fault...read other sites, this seems to happen to several people, which makes it a company error...legal a company is responsible for the actions of their employees...therefore a person is a representative of Kays when they are working...
