Kay Jewelers - Engagement Ring that Keeps Losing Diamonds
My husband bought my engagement ring approximately 2 years ago. Since then, I have lost a total of four diamonds that have had to be replaced.
I was told when first buying the ring that diamonds only tended to fall out when a ring is sized after being purchased, so I ordered the ring in the correct size from the beginning. I came in as scheduled every six months for inspections. The first time a diamond fell out, I was told that it was common wear and tear, and luckily for me we had invested in the insurance plan that fixes it for free. I sent it off and it came back within 8 weeks.
The second time, a diamond actually shattered. The third time, I was very upset that this continued to happen all within approximately 16 months of owning the ring. The sales associate told me there was nothing that could be done since all the repairs did not happen in one calendar year. They tried to sale my husband new rings, and tried to get me to trade mine in for double the cost.
Like I would trade in my ring just to pay more for problems this jewelry store seems to care nothing about. Today, only 2 months after repairing the third diamond, I look down to see another diamond has fell out of my ring. I am a school teacher, hardly "rough" on my ring at all. If anything, I take super care now to make sure I take it off anytime I am doing anything at all "rough" with my hands.
They will not replace it, or refund it. I have no idea how a jewelry store has stayed in business this long with the awful things they are putting their customers through.
I would read all the horrible reviews about customer service this store has before purchasing again from this store.
